Updates and Happy 4th of July
Hi everyone! I apologize that I haven’t written in awhile. When most of my treatments ended and I started my job, I needed a few weeks/months to get my life back on track! I hope this gorgeous (yet hot!) summer weather has everyone planning fun events and trips this summer! This weekend I am going on a cruise with Ben to Key West and Cozumel for a friend’s wedding (Thanks to Ben for taking me!) I am very excited and cant wait to relax a little bit!
My second surgery is officially scheduled for September 12th. Originally I was going to plan it a lot sooner (early summer) out of fear that I would never be able to wear a bathing suit or enjoy the summer with this foreign body of a spacer in my breast! However, the spacer isn’t noticeable at all, so I postponed by surgery until the fall so that I can relax and get the most out of my summer months!
The second surgery is reconstruction, which will involve taking out the spacer and replacing it with a soft implant. Recovery should only take a week or so, but my last surgery experience wasn’t very fun, so lets hope this one is much better! Then, months after this next surgery, I will have a nipple reconstructed and tattooed, which I will go into more detail then!
As far as life, LIFE IS GOOD! I feel awesome and almost feel back to speed. I still feel out of shape, no matter how much I work out, which is probably from the chemo induced menopause that I have the pleasure of experiencing (bleh!) But other than that, I am back to my old self.
As most of you know, I started my job in the Neonatal ICU in April as a nurse. I am in LOVE with my job and look forward to going to work every day! Being able to witness babies’ first cries, take care of them, and form bonds with the families is so rewarding. At the end of the day, it is so nice being able to hope that I made a difference in someone’s life! (Corny, I know!) I also babysit on my days off because I can’t get enough of those kids and miss them when I am not there! Needless to say, I am pretty busy!
Within the next week or so, I am going to update all my pictures on my website so that you can see my hair growth! I actually had to trim the sides and back last week because I was growing a mullet! Thanks again to everyone who consistently prays for me and is there by my side. Through this entire experience, I have been so fortunate to see the absolute best out of people who have been so supportive and generous to me!
Happy 4th of July!
