Whats there to be afraid of? Absolutely nothing!
Hello everyone!!!
I hope everyone had a great weekend! I sure did! I was a brave girl and experienced surgery for the first time on Thursday! Prior to checking in, Ben, my mom, and I tried on wigs (or at least I did! Haha) at the hospital cancer center and I was very happy with how I looked! That's a sigh of relief! Then, I checked into the short stay surgery center around 430pm. After an IV, injection of dye into the breast tissue, and a lot of the good stuff (versed and anesthesia!), I woke up from my lymph node biopsy talking (probably too much!) and walking around right away. Dr. Tafra said my nodes were round and normal looking, and today I found out that the pathology was CLEAR of cancer! No cancer in the lymph nodes! Praise the Lord! This seemed completely unlikely, based on the size and invasive nature of the tumor!
Over the weekend, I was able to go out on the boat with Ben and friends and enjoy the sunshine! I had absolutely no pain the first two or so days, but am feeling a little sore now. I guess that's what happens when you're cut on! :)
My struggle this week is trying to convince Kaiser to approved my oncologist at Anne Arundel Medical center, so that I can begin chemotherapy this week. I won the battle for surgery but am having a harder time with the oncology half. Please continue to pray for this!
On an exciting note, Teddy (My brother) and Kristin (my sister in law) are due THIS Friday! The next time I write, my niece might be here already! Please pray for Kristin to stay healthy and have an easy birth! She deserves it!
Attached is a picture of me in recovery after my surgery showing off my boo boo! Have a great week everyone and thank you thank you thank you for all your support!
Love,
Jami
